Dog massage, health and well-being being for your dog
I, Erica, from HuskyGård, am a Certified dog masseur. I did my education at the Axelsson's Animal Massage School in Stockholm.
Since we ourselves have many hard-working dogs I think it is important to know more about the dog's voluntary muscle system, movement range and anatomy in order to find muscle tension, stretch properly and thereby prevent and detect possible problems at an early stage. Through massage, I also get a better contact with my dogs.
You and your dog are, of course, also welcome for a massage visit. Perhaps your veterinarian has recommended it, or maybe you just want some advise or try it out for your dog.
MASSAGE / STRETCHING / STRESS POINTS
Massage increases blood circulation, accelerates the lymphatic circulation, lowers blood pressure, accelerate the working of the stomach/intestines and kidneys and has a relaxing effect on your dog. Stretching increases muscle flexibility, increases the range of motion and joints, relaxes the tension in muscles and tendons, etc. It is important to stretch in the right way so as not to harm the dog. I only perform stretching on dogs that need it. I also treat stress points when needed. Stress Points are 'built' up by, for example, hard working, fights, trauma, fear, cold, etc., a circulatory disorder can appear and build a stress point.
A DOG MASSAGE VISIT:
Before we begin, I need to know if your dog has any illnesses, medication, has had surgery or if you have other information in relation to your dog's health. In some cases it is not good to give massage. I do not treat pregnant bitches and bitches that are on heat. I recommend to wait with a massage visit (1 week before and after) if the dog has a "challenge" ahead of it such as dog exhibition, hunting test etc. or just has got vaccinated or de-wormed.
A treatment can include one or more of the following elements: movement evaluation, massage, stress point therapy, stretching. Everything depends on what your dog needs. A visit will take about 1 hour. The treatment is on the dog's condition which means we do not force the dog. After the treatment the dog may be a bit tired and I recommend that your dog takes it a little bit easy after the treatment. Please call or email me for more information or if you want to make a reservation for a dog massage visit.
